Properties can fall out of code compliance if their system is found lacking.
Shaft Pressurization
Shaft Pressurization
Testing occurs with the main building fire alarm system because fans activate upon the fire alarm signal being sent to the panel. If the fans have manual controls those will be tested. Pressure readings are required every 5th floor, and depending on the matrix (if there is one), dampers and doors on every floor may be affected. Annual certifications depend on AHJ requirements – some properties are too small to be tested.
Testing time varies based on the size of the building and availability of atmospheric pressure.
